WWE news: Jeff Jarrett provides update on Elias' condition and full-time in-ring return

Elias returned to in-ring action on SmackDown at the end of January, winning a tag team match with Braun Strowman against Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura.

He then took part in the Royal Rumble match, where he was the number two entrant. The Drifter lasted just one minute before being eliminated by Brock Lesnar.

It may not be much, but it was great to see Elias getting back into the ring. Prior to January, he hadn’t wrestled a full match since September 2019.

His role since moving up to the main roster has been mostly as backstage talent. He’ll be used for segments on TV, but more often than not, it won’t end with him in the ring.

Many WWE fans wondered exactly why that was – and if we’ll ever see Elias compete full-time again.

The good news is Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett – who now works in a backstage role himself – has confirmed we’ll be seeing a lot more of ‘Heavy Metal Jesus’ going forward.

“I’m sure Elias will be in the ring more often. He’s a unique guy. I was very impressed by the innate charisma he brings to a room,” Jarrett exclusively told GIVEMESPORT.

“All talent, some can be loud and boisterous, some can have a physically imposing presence and there are other guys that have a unique, eccentric charisma.

“He has the athletic ability too. I watched him before he got to the main roster and he’s got some skill sets.

“The injury to his foot – he’s healed from it, but it came at a devastating time. It will all work out in the end but it couldn’t have come at a worse time.

“He was picking up steam and you can see that again now on SmackDown, he’s getting the momentum going. He’s an entertaining character, I’m interested to see where he takes it.”

Many WWE fans will share the same opinion of Elias – before his untimely injury, he seemed destined to headline pay-per-views.

Let’s just hope creative find a strong feud to put him in soon and who knows, he could pick up even more momentum heading towards WrestleMania.
