Lionel Messi leaving Barcelona is a scenario that’s considered unthinkable. However, that exact scenario is currently being discussed.Barcelona have been plunged into crisis thanks to an argument between sporting director Eric Abidal and Messi. The former left-back called out several unnamed Barca players for not having the right attitude under former manager Ernesto Valverde.“Many players were not satisfied or didn’t work hard and there was also an internal communication issue,” the former Barca left-back said.

“The relationship between manager and dressing room has always been good, but there are things that I can smell as a former player.

“I told the club what I thought and had to make a decision.”

Messi responded with an Instagram post demanding that Abidal named names.

"Those responsible for the area of sports management must assume their responsibilities and above all take charge of the decisions they make," Messi wrote.

“Finally, I think that when talking about players, we should give names because otherwise we are getting everyone dirty and feeding things that are said and are not true.”

It’s sparked a flurry of reports suggesting Messi could trigger his a clause in his contract that states he’s free to leave at the end of the season.

Could that really happen?

Well, according to El Chiringuito it’s certainly a possibility.

In fact, they’re reporting that Messi has given Barca an ultimate. 'Either president Josep Maria Bartomeu leaves or I leave' Messi is reported to have said.

Wow.

Messi wants Bartomeu gone this summer and is ready to leave the club if that doesn’t happen.

The Argentine is reportedly unhappy at Bartomeu’s inability to land Xavi as the club’s new manager after Valverde’s departure.

Now we will see if Messi really is bigger than the club or not…
