Real Madrid crashed out of the Copa del Rey on Thursday evening after a 4-3 defeat to Real Sociedad.

Martin Odegaard, on loan from Real Madrid to Sociedad, came back to haunt his parent club as he netted the opener.

Alexander Isak's quick-fire brace just after half-time gave the away side a shock 3-0 lead.

Marcelo reduced the deficit back to two, only for Mikel Merino to score Sociedad's fourth with 20 minutes remaining.

Real Madrid managed to pull the game back to 4-3 but it was too late as the visitors held on to a crucial victory.

One man that did not feature in the game was Gareth Bale.

The Welshman's future was a big talking point in January but he ended up staying at the club.

He was available for his side's fixture on Thursday evening but was Zinedine Zidane decided not to select him in his squad.

Bale was pictured watching the game from the sidelines but, with the game having 10 minutes left and Real Madrid 4-1 down, Bale made a quick exit.

AS posted footage of Bale driving away from the Bernabeu shortly after the 80th minute.

It's important to note that Real Madrid allow their players not involved in the match day squad to leave the stadium 10 minutes before the end of the game, so Bale did nothing wrong.

But it's surely an indicator he just does not care about his side's fortunes at all. This isn't the first time he's done this either.

Despite constant speculation about his future, Bale's agent has revealed he will see out his contract in Madrid.

“He’s in a very fortunate position. Gareth is very happy over there. And let’s be realistic: for most clubs he is out of their league, financially," Jonathan Barnett told talkSPORT.

“It is all well and good to say, ‘give up that money and go and play somewhere else’, but it is not all about money. It is about his lifestyle and his children, who have grown up in Madrid.

“When his contract is up hopefully he will sit down with me and his family and decide what he wants to do.”
