WWE News: Vince McMahon says 'AEW has not changed our content at all'

Vince McMahon has said in a recent conference call that AEW has not forced WWE to change their content in any way.

WWE’s NXT has been battling with AEW’s Dynamite show on Wednesday nights ever since the Wednesday Night Wars began back in October last year.

However, AEW has had a bigger impact on the wrestling world than just against NXT on Wednesdays, as they’ve also forced the company to think twice about releasing some of their stars.

AEW’s edgier content has given wrestling fans a viable alternative to WWE’s PG programming as well.

During WWE’s recent conference call on Thursday, Vince McMahon was asked about AEW’s edgier content and if this has forced WWE to change their content.

The WWE Chairman denied this, saying via Pro Wrestling Sheet: “AEW has not changed our content at all. It’s all about characters, storylines and resolutions … so it really hasn’t changed our point of view in terms of what we present.

“We don’t need more edgy, as you call it, content. PG. One of the few programs out there that really is PG.

“As far as NXT, we’re competing. NXT is competing on Wednesday night with AEW and doing extremely well and we’re confident that NXT will continue on with its success.”

AEW still has NXT’s number in the Wednesday night TV ratings, as Dynamite beat NXT once again this past week, 928,000 to 770,000, according to ShowBuzz Daily.

As for WWE being a destination job, McMahon said, via NoDQ: "Who wouldn’t want to work for WWE?"

Despite what Vince believes, there have been a handful of superstars who have wanted to leave WWE recently, most likely for AEW.

However, some have also been using the presence of AEW in order to negotiate a better deal with WWE, and some have been successful in their efforts.

It still feels like we need to give AEW a couple more months to see exactly where they stand when compared to WWE, but for now at least, WWE isn’t going to be changing their style to combat against their potential threat.
