Cristiano Ronaldo is still among the very best players in the world.

The legendary forward has been tremendous since signing for Juventus in 2018.

In his debut season in Italy, Ronaldo scored 28 times as The Old Lady won a domestic double.

He's on course to better that tally this campaign. Ronaldo has already scored 22 times and looks set to break the 30-goal barrier by the end of the season.

His double against Fiorentina took him to a half century of goals since he joined Italian football.

He managed that tally in 70 games; the second quickest anyone has ever done it.

But who managed to do it faster? The Daily Mail have listed the top 10 Italian league players to reach 50 goals the quickest.

10. Gonzalo Higuain - 96 games

Higuain scored bucket loads of goals Real Madrid for years and he made a quick transition with Napoli.

His 50th goal came from the penalty spot in a 4-2 win over Sampdoria in 2015.

9. Adriano - 95 games

Adriano's career didn't last long but, at his peak, he was a nightmare to play against.

His 50 goals, which came in 95 games, were scored for Inter Milan (18), Fiorentina (6) and Parma (26).

8. Edin Dzeko - 92 games

Dzeko came to life in his second season in Italy, scoring 39 goals in 51 games for Roma.

He netted his 50th goal in Italian football at the start of his third campaign at the club.

7. David Trezeguet - 86 games

Like Dzeko, it also took Trezeguet three seasons to mark his 50th goal.

He reached and surpassed the landmark in style by netting a hat-trick against Chievo Verona on January 19, 2003.

6. Gabriel Batistuta - 85 games

Batistuta has gone down as one of the most complete strikers of all-time.

He netted in 11 straight league matches during the 1994-95 season, which went a long way to helping him score 50 goals in just 85 games for Fiorentina.

5. Michel Platini - 84 games

Platini makes the list despite being a central midfielder.

He brought up his 50th goal with a brace against Torino in just his second season with Juventus.

4. Marco van Basten - 83 games

Van Basten endured an injury-hit first campaign at AC Milan, meaning it took him three seasons to reach 50 goals.

He did so with a penalty against Cesana in January 1990.

3. Ronaldo - 77 games

We could be sitting here describing Ronaldo as the best player of all-time if it weren't for his injury woes.

He signed for Inter Milan in 1997 for a then world-record fee and, two years later, he was celebrating his 50th goal for the club after scoring against Piacenza.

2. Cristiano Ronaldo - 70 games

All of the aforementioned players on this list were in their 20s when they hit their 50th goal in Italy.

Ronaldo is 35.

1. Andriy Shevchenko - 69 games

The only person to better Ronaldo's tally is AC Milan legend, Shevchenko. It took him one fewer game than Ronaldo to break the record.

He reached 50 goals in his second campaign by scoring a brace against Roma on January 21, 2001.

Ronaldo just continues to record remarkable feats in football.

The fact he's reached 50 goals the second quickest of any Italian player in history, despite being in his mid-30s, is incredible.

His next landmark will be to score 50 Serie A goals. With only 10 to go, you wouldn't bet against him reaching that mark by the end of the season.
