Barcelona are now willing to sell Philippe Coutinho this summer for just £67m

Philippe Coutinho's career has gone massively downhill since leaving Liverpool.

The Brazilian midfielder was a fan-favourite at the Reds but burned bridges when he forced through a £142m move to Barcelona in January 2018.

Coutinho described moving to Barcelona as a dream and it was expected he would be a key part for many years to come.

He was promising in his first half-season at the club, scoring 10 times in 22 matches.

But his first full season was a disaster. He managed just 11 goals in 54 games, leading to Barcelona deeming him as expendable.

Coutinho was shipped out on loan to Bayern Munich at the start of the season, with the German club having the option to sign him permanently for £102m.

However, he's managed just seven goals in 26 games, and Bayern have reportedly already decided not to sign him for the agreed amount.

So what do Barcelona do with him when he returns to the club in the summer?

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona still want to sell him and get him off their books.

But they believe that no club will want to sign him for over £100m.

Therefore, it's said that Barcelona would accept anything between €80m-€90m (£68m-£76m) with 'their eyes closed'.

That means that Barca are willing to cut their losses and sell him for more than half what they paid for him.

Ouch. That's some fall from grace for Coutinho.

It's amazing what has happened to him in the past few years. He was so good for Liverpool. In fact, he was one of the best players in the Premier League.

But his confidence seems to have taken a huge hit since that disastrous first full season at Barcelona.

Coutinho still has a lot to give, though. He's still only 27 years old, meaning he still has his best years ahead of him.

Obviously £67m is a lot of money but, if Coutinho returns to the form he showed at Liverpool, that would be an absolute steal.

Jurgen Klopp seemed to get the best out of him while he was at the club. Maybe he'll be tempted to bring him back to the club in the summer.
