It's fair to say that Borussia Dortmund have been one of the teams to watch in Europe this season.

Though the German giants have struggled to reach the heights that they did under Jurgen Klopp, when they won back-to-back Bundesliga titles and reached the Champions League between 2011 and 2013, they are beginning to assemble a squad that has the potential to get them back to the top.

Jadon Sancho's emergence over the last couple of seasons has England fans excited ahead of the Euros this summer and Dortmund held off a number of Europe's top clubs to sign Erling Haaland, one of the most in-demand forwards.

And when you add the likes of Marco Reus, Mario Götze, Julian Brandt and Thorgan Hazard to the mix, they've got the firepower to embarrass the even the best defences on the continent

Dortmund's issues this season have been at the other end of the pitch though, because despite being the top scorers in the Bundesliga, their leaky defence means that they currently sit third, three points behind Bayern Munich having played a game more.

They are also up against it in the Champions League, where they've been drawn against Paris Saint Germain in the last 16, meaning that shaky defence will be up against the likes of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, Edinson Cavani and Mauro Icardi.

They've brought back former favourite Mats Hummels to marshall their fairly inexperienced backline, but the fact that Bayern let him join their great rivals suggests that he is now past his best.

Dortmund's free-flowing, but also frustrating, football in the last 15 games under Lucien Favre has now been highlighted by a fan on Reddit.

Amazingly, there have been 74 goals scored in that time at an average of 4.93 goals per game. Forty-four of those goals have been scored by Dortmund at 2.93 per game but they have also conceded 30 goals during that period at 2.00 per game.

The highlights of this staggering run were the 3-2 comeback win over Inter Milan in the Champions League group stage, 5-0 demolitions of Dusseldorf and Union Berlin and a crazy 5-3 win at Augsberg.

But they've also been dismantled 5-0 by Bayern, then drew 3-3 at home to rock-bottom SC Paderborn before losing 3-2 away at Werder Bremen in that time.

So whilst you'll definitely get your money's worth as a Dortmund fan this season, there will also be a lot of fingernails being chewed in the Westfalenstadion over the coming weeks.
