Vivianne Miedema wants Arsenal to host a Women's Super League match at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners were set to play North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, however, due to severe weather conditions the game was postponed.

Arsenal Women's home ground Meadow Park, was a sell-out for the fixture, with the game set to break the previous attendance record of 4,030 - when owners Boreham Wood hosted the Gunners' men's side in a pre-season friendly.

Tottenham welcomed Arsenal to their men's new stadium earlier in the season, where a record 38,262 fans were in attendance for a WSL match.

The previous record for attendance at a WSL game was 31,213 when Manchester City hosted Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium in September.

Miedema scored the second goal of the match against Spurs in the reverse fixture in November when her side won 2-0.

So far this season, stadiums such as Stamford Bridge, the Etihad Stadium, and Anfield have accommodated WSL games.

This is because the Football Association is wanting the develop the already strong interest in women's football since last season.

Vivianne, 23,  joined the Gunners from Bayern Munich in July 2017. Since her arrival, she has scored 40 goals in 42 WSL games and is the highest goalscorer in the league with 14 this campaign.

The Netherlands' international is eager to play at the Emirates, saying the following to the Press Association:

“Obviously it was a massive day for women’s football.

“Spurs organised it really well, it was an amazing game to play in, the stadium is amazing but the main thing for us is that we won at their ground and I picked up a goal as well – it was a good day for us.

“Playing in a big stadium is nice but it isn’t something I get totally buzzed about but I do think for us as a club it would be the next step for us to play at the Emirates.

“What a lot of clubs have done well this year is play a big game in their stadium and I hope that we do that too in the future.

“Liverpool v Everton was at Anfield and this weekend it is at Goodison Park so I think that is really good steps.

“If there are 40,000 people coming to the game that is a massive thing and that would be good for us if we play a good game. Then people would come back to the stadium and it is one of the things we need to improve in the league, get more people to the game.”

Sunday's fixture would've been the first WSL fixture between the two North London clubs at Meadow Park, with the only previous meeting at the ground a 6-0 pre-season win for Arsenal.
