Remember when Pep Guardiola called Tottenham 'the Harry Kane team'?
There's no shame in relying on one top player to bang in the goals, but it can prove a dangerous strategy.
That's why Arsenal quake with fear every time the notion of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's departure is even mentioned.
It's only natural that in one of the best leagues in the world, there are going to be some world-class forwards who have contributed a huge number of their respective teams' points.
Here at GIVEMESPORT, we've been inspired to look at every Premier League club's top scorer and exactly how many points they've won their team *single-handedly*.
- The world's highest paid footballers and managers
- The PL managers with the most MotM awards
- Man City think they have a chance of signing Messi
That means only tallying up goals which have directly affected the result - so one Sergio goal in a 2-2 draw would be worth a point, but the Manchester City striker scoring in a 6-1 win would not affect how many points his team earned. Make sense?
So without further ado, here are the players from each top-flight side who have made the biggest difference to their team's position in the table - in order of the most points won to the fewest:
1. Wolves - Raúl Jiménez +14
2. Southampton - Danny Ings + 14
3. Arsenal - Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang + 13
4. Chelsea - Tammy Abraham + 13
5. Tottenham - Harry Kane + 10
6. Manchester United - Marcus Rashford + 10
7. Everton - Dominic Calvert-Lewin + 9
8. Crystal Palace - Jordan Ayew + 9
9. Man City - Sergio Aguero + 8
10. Leicester - Jamie Vardy + 8
11. Norwich - Teemu Pukki + 7
12. Burnley - Chris Wood + 7
13. Brighton - Neal Maupay + 7
15. Aston Villa - Jack Grealish + 6
15. Liverpool - Mo Salah + 6
16. Sheffield United - John Fleck + 5
17. Newcastle - Jonjo Shelvey + 5
18. West Ham - Sébastien Haller + 4
19. Bournemouth - Callum Wilson + 3
20. Watford - Troy Deeney + 0
That leads us to the inevitable question of where their teams would be without them.
Without even looking, you can surmise that Southampton would be in big trouble without Danny Ings. The Saints striker has been in such fantastic form that he's even shoehorned himself into contention for an England call-up for Euro 2020.
And as for Liverpool, they would be just fine without Salah's goals as their lead at the top of the table would only be cut by six points.
Let's take a look at the table if the goals of each player named above were taken away:
How the table would look without them
1. Liverpool - 67 points
2. Man City - 43 points
3. Leicester - 41 points
4. Sheffield United - 34 points
5. Chelsea - 28 points
6. Tottenham - 27 points
7. Everton - 27 points
8. Manchester United - 25 points
9. Newcastle - 25 points
10. Burnley - 24 points
11. Bournemouth - 23 points
12. Watford - 24 points
13. Wolves - 21 points
14. Crystal Palace - 21 points
15. Brighton - 20 points
16. West Ham - 20 points
17. Aston Villa - 19 points
18. Arsenal - 18 points
19. Southampton - 17 points
20. Norwich - 11 points
The top three would remain unchanged but below that? Now that's where it gets interesting.
Arsenal would be in the relegation zone without Aubameyang. Yes, this table is only a bit of fun but Barcelona were hovering around their captain in January.
If they did lose him, they'd have to make a serious investment to replace the Gabon international.
At the other end of the table, Chelsea and Tottenham have had Tammy Abraham and Harry Kane respectively to thank for their Champions League push - but both would be just fine without their star men, which is good news for Jose Mourinho as he has to contend without Kane until April.
