Deontay Wilder vs Tyson Fury 2 is nearly upon us, and a new promo for the fight is causing quite a stir with non-other than former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson getting involved with the build-up of the highly anticipated bout.
It was truly a beautifully set up promo from ‘Iron Mike’ featuring Fury and Wilder with some strong statements from all three individuals.
‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ has never shied away from the spotlight, especially when it comes to boxing; Mike Tyson has his own media platform in the form of his ‘Hotboxin Podcast’ and regularly talks to the biggest names in and out of the sport.
Just to give an example of the level of profile the former heavyweight champion is used to having on his podcast; the likes of Fury himself, Anthony Joshua AND even ex-opponent Evander Holyfield after both buried their differences in recent years.
Wilder and Fury trade blows in what will be a momentous occasion since the pair did the business back in December 2018; and well, we all know how that went…
- Kell Brook's knockout of Mark DeLuca in slow-mo
- Whyte threatens to embarrass Wilder by releasing documents
- Tyson Fury wants to fight Anthony Joshua in Las Vegas
The monster rematch is set for February 22, and is looking to be a truly incredible spectacle between two behemoths – ‘Bronze Bomber’ Wilder and unbeaten lineal champion Gypsy King will write another chapter in their stories.
Mike Tyson will be watching all the drama, twists and turns from the night, along with the millions of fans around the world; the question is – who is your money on?
Wilder is known for his punching power and many fighters, including Mike Tyson, have recognised this and determine this to be his ultimate not so secret weapon; Fury, on the other hand, is a very quick, nimble-like monster who has a habit of stunning an audience and causing an upset; along with a truck load of controversy to boot.
The pair will go head-to-head very soon and will look to implement their own respective fighting styles. So after an explosive first bout, it is very much anybody’s guess as to who will come out on top and truly stake their claim for a shot at the history books.
The finish of the first fight was somewhat controversial, as we saw Wilder retain his title due to a split draw after Fury rose up from the dead in the memorable 12th round. A truly historical moment in heavyweight boxing history.
Wilder vs Fury 2 seems like a ‘must win’ for both parties as they are both at the pinnacle of their respective careers and will want to look forward to super fights against the likes of Anthony Joshua and company.
There is no question that this is the biggest fight of either fighter’s career and a lot of preparation will have gone into bettering the other on the night.
As ‘Iron Mike’ famously stated; “We all have a plan until we get hit in the mouth”…
