Lewis Hamilton has to be one of the greatest drivers ever to get behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car.

The British speedster has been simply unstoppable in recent times, winning five of the last six drivers' titles including the last three on offer.

Hamilton and Mercedes are a dream partnership as well, with the famous Silver Arrow carrying Hamilton to the summit of many a podium.

There are those that argue that were Hamilton not piloting one of the finest machines the sport has ever seen, that he would simply be a rather average driver.

However, the fact that he has six world titles to his name is very difficult to argue with.

It is no surprise then that Hamilton's name is being murmured when it comes to the 'Greatest of All-Time' conversation.

The 35-year-old is now just one world title away from equalling Michael Schumacher's once insurmountable record of seven.

Schumacher dominated the sport in the early 2000s, winning five titles on the bounce as he continually pushed the standard for greatness higher and higher.

Now, however, Hamilton may be on the brink of matching that standard and Formula 1 Managing Director Ross Brawn believes he more than deserves it.

"It's a bit frustrating for me because it's a record Michael holds," Brawn told Bild newspaper.

"But if he (Hamilton) continues like this, he will deserve the seventh title,"

"If he wins it won't be because of luck, but because he's a fantastic driver."

Brawn worked closely with Schumacher in those heady Ferrari days and is better placed to judge than anyone.

However, Brawn would not be drawn into deciding between the two - claiming that the differing era's make it impossible to pick.

"We're talking about completely different periods and cars. And they have completely different personalities," Brawn added.

"Lewis has an incredible level of professionalism and he works hard, but Michael had an understanding of the details of his car that Lewis no longer needs these days."
