The January transfer window passed without any major surprises.

A few big-money moves were made - Bruno Fernandes to Manchester United and Steven Bergwijn to Tottenham spring to mind.

But most teams decided to stay quiet and perhaps plan for the summer.

In fact, most of the talk in the winter window surrounded upcoming free agents - the likes of Edinson Cavani and Dries Mertens.

Both of those strikers decided to stay with their current sides for the remainder of the season, but they will be free to move on come June.

They aren't the only big players out of contract either. Check out an XI of the most valuable free agents below:

There are certainly a few massive names who will be available for free next summer.

As mentioned above, Mertens and Cavani are still very much in demand, despite their advancing ages.

Willian has also been heavily linked with a move away from Chelsea - it's rumoured that Barcelona are very interested in the Brazilian.

Then there are the likes of Matuidi, Meunier and Vertonghen, who could all definitely do a job for any of Europe's biggest teams.

But the most valuable player in this XI is Bournemouth's Fraser. The winger is 25-years-old and is likely running down his contract to secure a move to a much bigger club.

Past reports have suggested that Man United, Liverpool and Arsenal are all interested in the Scotsman.

It will be very interesting to see where he - and the rest of the players in this XI - end up next season.
