The BBC has announced the nominees for their 2020 Women's Footballer of the Year award.

In order to place your vote for who you think deserves the title, you will have to vote through the BBC Sport website. 

A panel of journalists, players, coaches, and administrators, have created the five-person shortlist.

The five names competing for the award are as follows:

Lucy Bronze - The only English player to make the list and winner of the award in 2018. Bronze was part of the Lyon team that won the treble last season.

Julie Ertz - She has played her whole professional career at Chicago Red Stars and named the United States National Women's Team Player of the Year in 2019.

Sam Kerr - Australia's captain who recently moved to Chelsea, Kerr spent the majority of 2019 with Chicago Red Stars and was named NWSL Most Valuable Player at the end of last season.

Vivianne Miedema - Arsenal and Netherlands striker, Miedema was part of the Gunners team who women the Women's Super League last season, as well as being named the PFA Players' Player of the Year in 2019.

Megan Rapinoe - The 2019 Ballon d'Or Féminin winner, last summer's Women's World Cup Golden Boot winner, and The Best FIFA Women's Player are just a few awards Rapinoe has won last year alone, the 34-year-old plays her trade for Reign FC in the NWSL.

This will be the fifth-annual BBC Women's Footballer of the Year award.

Lyon and Norway forward Ada Hegerberg was named the 2019 winner. The 24-year-old won the treble alongside Bronze last season, as well as netting 29 goals in 32 appearances in all competitions. 

In a video where she was presented with the award for the second time - the first in 2017 - Ada said the following:

"This is hard for me to find words because winning it a second time is unbelievable,

"BBC Footballer of the Year, it speaks for itself,

"I'll stay hungry, motivated, give it all as long as I can, and write a new history for sure."

Voting is open for you to vote for your favourite, you have until 09:00 GMT on Monday, 2 March to cast your vote.

The 2020 Women's Footballer of the Year will be announced on Tuesday, 24 March on BBC World Service.
