Red Bull has released the first images of their brand new racer ahead of 2020 testing in Barcelona this month. The Christian Horner-led side has named the new machine the 'RB 16' and will be quietly confident of doing some real damage to Ferrari and Mercedes.Red Bull has finished third in each of the last three seasons, but, after an encouraging year in 2019 that saw Max Verstappen win three races, the big wigs at Red Bull will be quietly confident of gatecrashing the top two.The RB 16 is expected to follow the same high rake, short wheel based formula as its predecessor, the RB 15 which performed admirably last year.It will also be their second car powered by a Honda engine, after what Horner described as a 'transitional year' with the Japanese engine supplier in 2019.

It all points towards what promises to be a fruitful season for Red Bull, who have gone without a title since those heady days in 2013.

Whether the RB 16 is capable of rekindling those glory days remains to be seen, but with Verstappen sat behind the wheel, it has every chance.

Verstappen is unquestionably one of the finest drivers on the circuit and is only set to get better with more experience under his belt.

On top of that, they have in Alexander Albon one of the most promising talents to emerge in recent years and the 23-year-old could be the perfect foil for Verstappen.

Mercedes definitely have a challenge on their hands if they wish to maintain their monopoly over the sport in 2020.

They may well be looking over their shoulder with a little more angst than what they are used to if the RB 16 lives up to its promise.

The car is set to air out its lungs for the first time today with Verstappen set to hammer around Silverstone before official testing begins later this month.
