Manchester United's January deadline day signing Odion Ighalo has been banned from the club's training ground since his arrival from China.

The Nigerian striker is currently not allowed to step foot in United's Carrington training complex due to fears over the coronavirus outbreak.

While Ighalo is still within the mandated 14-day incubation period issued to travellers from China, he has and will be training in a separate location in Manchester with a personal trainer.

As reported by the Mirror, United consider it a necessary precaution to take in order to protect staff and players from any chance of infection.

Ighalo did not travel from Wuhan - the city where the coronavirus originated - and it is understood that the chance of the Nigerian striker having been exposed to the illness is 'statistically minute'.

But it means the 30-year-old is yet to take part in a training session with his new teammates after signing on a six-month loan from Shanghai Shenhua.

When asked about Ighalo's absence from United's warm-weather training camp in Marbella, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: "Odion will stay in Manchester, because since he has come from China in the last 14 days, the news of the virus there means we're not sure if he's going to be allowed back into England if he leaves the country again.

"So he's staying here working with a personal coach on an individual programme and his family then can settle in England as well. That's a plus.

"Of course, he might have liked to have come with the players and got to know them, but we don’t want to take that risk [of potential border restrictions tightening]."

But concerns over the coronavirus outbreak - which has claimed around 1,100 lives in China - has still affected United out in Marbella.

As revealed by the Daily Mail, the Red Devils were forced to change hotel because Rafa Benitez's Dalian Yifang side had stayed in their first-choice accommodation the week before.

United's preparation for Monday night's game against Chelsea has been far from perfect.
