Jordan Henderson will lift the Premier League trophy within the next three months. It’s a matter of time before the Reds, who sit 22 points clear at the top of the table, are crowned champions of England for the first time since 1990.Jurgen Klopp’s formidable side have won 24 of their 25 Premier League fixtures, which means they already have 73 points on the board with 13 games left to play.Several of their players are early contenders to win the PFA’s Premier League Player of the Year award.Jordan Henderson leads the way ahead of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and last year’s winner Virgil van Dijk, while Trent Alexander-Arnold and Roberto Firmino are also in the mix.

However, Andy Robertson is convinced that Henderson deserves to win the individual accolade.

"For me, I think he's the leading candidate [for player of the year]," Robertson told Sky Sports News. "At times this season when we've struggled Hendo has been the one that has driven us forward.

"He's the one who has made sure we don't get slack, or he has chipped in with some really important goals or really important assists.

"Maybe his performances at the start of the season went a little bit under the radar, but as the season has progressed he's not really had a bad game.

"You really appreciate him when you train with him every day and in this country he's not been appreciated enough in his character.

"He's getting the recognition he deserves because he is a fantastic player, a fantastic role model and a fantastic captain. He's driven us to three points at times this season when we've struggled."

Robertson’s comments come just days after Alexander-Arnold tweeted “Hendo” when asked whether he’d rather play with Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Liverpool captain has clearly made a massive impression on his teammates over the past few months.

If Henderson does win the Player of the Year award, it would mark the completion of a remarkable turnaround in his career.

Previously much-maligned by most football fans - including some of his own supporters - Henderson was once offered to Fulham as part of a swap deal for Clint Dempsey.

But Henderson has silenced all of his critics in recent years thanks to sheer hard work and is now getting the credit that he richly deserves.
