Juventus have rescued a 1-1 draw against AC Milan in the first leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final.The Serie A leaders looked on course for a defeat at San Siro after Ante Rebic's goal on 61 minutes and in spite of the fact Theo Hernandez was given a red card just 10 minutes later.Nevertheless, try as Juventus might, they couldn't find themselves an equaliser from open play and it took a highly controversial decision for them to take a draw back to Turin. That's because Cristiano Ronaldo won a penalty in stoppage time when his ambitious bicycle kick at the back post was blocked by Davide Calabria. The full-back had just leapt to head away the cross that Ronaldo eventually met and the ball struck him on the arm from mere yards out with his back to his opponent.

Juventus' controversial penalty

The Juventus players immediately appealed for handball and VAR obliged, giving Juventus the opportunity to draw level from the spot.

And considering ice runs through the veins of the in-form Ronaldo, he made no mistake from 12 yards and fired down the middle as Gianluigi Donnarumma plunged to his left-hand side.

However, the original decision certainly left a foul taste in the mouth and you can check out the full clip down below to make up your own mind on whether handball was rightfully given.

GIVEMESPORT's Kobe Tong says

For the love of football, the handball rule seriously needs to change.

Unless Calabria had chopped off his arms before the game, there's no way he could have avoided touching the ball with his hand when he wasn't looking at it and was descending from a header.

The lawmakers seems to think professional footballers are living in the Matrix and can somehow dodge these sort of point blank coincidences.

It's the sort of decision that really undercuts an entire 90 minutes and frankly, players should start protesting by taking to the pitch in handcuffs. It seems the only way to be sure of not hand-balling it.
