Mercedes have unveiled their new F1 car going into their title defence in 2020 ahead of its debut on Friday at Silverstone.Decked out in the revised livery that was revealed at a sponsorship event this week, familiar faces will be returning to the driving seat with Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas remaining for a fourth season as teammates. The German car-manufacturer were the last of the front-runners to have launched their cars, with Red Bull and Ferrari revealing their 2020 challengers earlier this week.Six-time champion, Lewis Hamilton, is hoping to make it seven in the 2020 rest, reacting to the new car on social media saying:

“Excited to get behind the wheel.”

The Englishman also has the opportunity to tie the F1 championship benchmark this year, with Hamilton just seven wins behind legendary driver, Michael Schumacher.

This record-breaking feat could be achieved in the new Silver Arrow that was unveiled on Valentine’s Day, with Bottas being the first to take the reins in the Silverstone 100km run.

The car is considered the new gold (silver) standard of Formula One, partnered with the new W11 livery that incorporates new sponsor INEOS, that was revealed in London on Monday.

Speaking from that sponsorship event at the Royal Automobile Club, Toto Wolff was adamant that Mercedes were to remain in the sport for the foreseeable future.

“Like I've always said, we are in this for the long term," he said.

“Mercedes provides a great marketing platform for our brand. This is what we do. We build race cars and we build road cars.

“Formula One is the halo platform for hybrid engineering - something which is not communicated enough because it was talked down at the beginning of the V6-Hybrid era and it is something that we should really put more emphasis on.
