Thierry Henry is probably the best player of the Premier League era. That’s an opinion shared by many football fans who watched English football’s top division week-in, week-out during the 2000s.While Cristiano Ronaldo was incredible for Manchester United (during his final three years, anyway), the Portuguese international produced the best football of his career at Real Madrid after leaving the Premier League.Henry, on the other hand, was undoubtedly at his peak during his unforgettable eight-year spell with Arsenal. When the Frenchman left the Gunners for Barcelona in 2007, we’d already seen him at his absolute best. Arsenal fans enjoyed the greatest years of his career.

One of his most memorable performances came during his penultimate season with the north London outfit away at Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Henry scored the only goal in a famous 1-0 victory at the Bernabeu - and what a goal it was, too.

The world-class forward picked the ball up just inside Real Madrid’s half of the pitch and ran towards goal, swerving a couple of opponents in the process, before producing a beautiful left-footed finish past Iker Casillas.

It was a moment of magic from an extraordinary player.

However, that wasn’t the only time that night that Henry made it look like men against boys.

Arsenal ran down the clock in stoppage time by giving Henry the ball and letting him do his thing - and one piece of play, in the fourth minute of added-on time, is just brilliant to watch.

Henry, who is the most advanced Arsenal player about 20 yards from the halfway line, knows his best chance of wasting time is to get to the closest corner flag at the opposite end of the pitch.

He subsequently proceeds to knock the ball into space past Sergio Ramos before effortlessly skipping over a slide tackle from Álvaro Mejía without even looking.

Having successfully reached the corner flag, Henry then holds off Mejía while controlling the ball with his right foot.

When Henry wins the throw-in, he struts away like a boss.

What a player.

Arsenal went on to knock Real Madrid out of the Champions League last 16 before seeing off Juventus in the quarter-finals.

They then edged past Villarreal in the semi-finals before eventually losing to Barcelona in the final.

Henry, meanwhile, would end up joining Barça a year later - and it was with the Catalan giants that he finally landed his hands on the Champions League trophy in 2009.
