Disney's new 'The Mighty Ducks' reboot will make them 'The Villians'

A new generation will have their eyes opened to The Mickey Mouse Corp when the reboot of legendary Disney franchise ‘The Mighty Ducks’ hits the screens, but with a change that could be controversial.

There is no denying that when it was announced that the Minnesota hockey team would be returning to television, people were ecstatic.

Flaming the nostalgia amongst the older generation as they couldn’t wait to reembark on the great underdog story of some of their favourite characters, defying the odds and beating their enemies.

However, Disney has taken the bold step to turn the narrative completely on its head – making the Mighty Ducks team the villains of the rebooted series.

Explained on Variety, it says “The new Mighty Ducks is set in present-day Minnesota, where the Mighty Ducks have evolved from scrappy underdogs to an ultra-competitive, powerhouse youth hockey team.

“After 12-year-old Evan (Good Girls’ Brady Noon) is unceremoniously cut from the Ducks, he and his mom Alex (Gilmore Girls’ Lauren Graham) set out to build their own ragtag team of misfits to challenge the cutthroat, win-at-all-costs culture of competitive youth sports.”

It’s clear for all to see that the synopsis reveals that the happy-go-lucky group of the courageous ducks are now nothing but destructive and arrogant bullies? It totally reeks of evil.

It leaves many to wonder what other changes are in store for the numerous returning and rebooted franchises that will come along with Disney’s own streaming platform.

A new look Lizzie McGuire series was revealed beforehand, with the original cast and characters everyone loves yet it has been put on hold until further notice.

Rather surprisingly, we will also be getting the reboot of cult-classic Home Alone, with Jojo Rabbit star Archie Yates, stepping into the role that Macauley Culkin made so generational.
