Liverpool are within touching distance of their first Premier League title.Jurgen Klopp's side made it 26 games unbeaten with a narrow 1-0 victory over Norwich City at Carrow Road. That victory now means they have now opened up a 25-point lead at the top of the table. While Liverpool are having the perfect season, it's fair to say that Manchester United are not.In fact, United are in the middle of what is one of the worst seasons in their history.

The Red Devils are currently in ninth, having accumulated 35 points from their opening 25 games.

If results go their way they could move up to sixth with a win over Chelsea on Monday but, quite frankly, that still isn't anywhere good enough.

United were so much better than Liverpool for such a long time and have so often got the better of them in the last 30 years.

But the pendulum has well and truly swung now.

Liverpool are absolutely light years ahead of United and, with their victory on Saturday, that means they have guaranteed they will finish above their fierce rivals.

That's right. Liverpool, currently on 76 points, can afford to lose their remaining 12 Premier League games.

If that happened, and United managed to win their final 13 games to close the season, they would still not overtake Liverpool as they'd finish on 74 points.

United's title challenge is officially over.

It's important to remember that we are only in the middle of February.

For Liverpool, that's brilliant. It's always good to finish above your fierce rivals and to do it with so much of the season left makes it so much sweeter.

But for United, that's simply embarrassing.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a big task on his hands if he is to close the gap with Liverpool in the next few years.

United used to be able mock Liverpool in the past knowing that they were a class above. Now the shoe is well and truly on the other foot.
