Tottenham Hotspur moved up to fifth on Sunday afternoon as they beat strugglers Aston Villa 3-2 at Villa Park.

Toby Alderweireld made up for an early own goal on 27 minutes by smashing the ball into the roof of Pepe Reina's net.

The game was turned on its head on the stroke of half-time as Heung-Min Son slotted home from close range after his penalty was saved by the Villa 'keeper.

The hosts were next to hit back though through defender Bjorn Engels on 53 minutes.

However, he went from hero to villain late on after failing to clear his lines, gifting Son the chance to race through on goal before bagging the winner deep into stoppage time.

Despite the brace, though, it wasn't an overly straight forward afternoon for the Spurs match winner who was denied on a number of occasions by Reina.

And his missed opportunities were humorously pointed out by his manager after the game.

During an interview with the Spurs' media team, Jose Mourinho interrupted by saying, "Are you speaking about the goals he scored or the goals he missed?"

Son took it in good spirits as the Spurs boss walked away so the interview could continue.

The victory meant Spurs moved up to fifth, one point away from Chelsea in fourth who play Manchester United tomorrow night.

As for Son, he now has nine Premier League goals for the season and has bagged six times in his last five games.

Whilst hoping Chelsea drop points tomorrow, Spurs turn their attentions to Wednesday night as they host RB Leipzig in the Champions League Round of 16.
