Real Madrid dropped points in a La Liga match for the first time since December at home to Celta Vigo on Sunday evening.Zinedine Zidane’s men, who went into this fixture off the back of five consecutive league wins, drew 2-2 with the relegation-threatened side at the Bernabeu.Fyodor Smolov gave the visitors a surprise lead early in the contest, but two second-half goals from Toni Kroos and Sergio Ramos in the space of 13 minutes turned the game on its head. However, there was one final twist in the 85th minute when Denis Suarez’s beautiful pass set up Santi Mina, whose first-time finish beat Thibaut Courtois.Real Madrid were still left with around 10 minutes to find the winner - five minutes of normal time, plus an additional five minutes of stoppage time.

But Celta Vigo did everything in their power to ensure they left the Spanish capital with a point - including kicking a second ball onto the pitch while play had already resumed following a throw-in.

Shortly after the throw-in is taken, a member of the Celta bench deliberately kicks a second ball into the middle of the pitch in a deliberate attempt to waste a bit more time.

Referee Javier Alberola blows his whistle and his helped by the fourth official, who immediately points out the perpetrator.

The person who kicked the second ball was then shown a red card - and deservedly so.

Absolute s**thousery. In a way, you have to admire the sheer audacity.

We saw something similar in a La Liga match between Atletico Madrid and Malaga back in April 2016.

Diego Simeone was handed a three-game touchline ban when a ball was thrown onto the pitch from the Atletico technical area while Malaga launched a counter-attack.

Footage showed that a ball boy was responsible but, under La Liga relegations, it was the coach’s responsibility to monitor what happens around his technical area.

If this rule still applies then Celta boss Oscar Garcia runs the risk of receiving a similar punishment.
