Charlotte Flair made a surprise appearance at NXT TakeOver: Portland, attacking NXT Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley and confirming her status for WrestleMania 36 as well.
Rhea Ripley defended the NXT Women’s Championship against Bianca Belair at NXT TakeOver: Portland on Sunday night.
Ripley and Belair both knew that winning the NXT Women’s title could mean a date with Charlotte Flair at this year’s WrestleMania on April 5.
The Nightmare managed to defeat The EST of NXT and retain her title, but after the match had concluded, she was attacked from behind by The Queen who made her way to the ring.
Flair then grabbed a mic and stated that she would be challenging Ripley for the NXT Women’s Championship at this year’s Showcase of Immortals.

She said: “So I thought about it … and I’ll see you at WrestleMania!”
The Queen then attacked The Nightmare with the Natural Selection, and gave Belair a cheap shot as she made her exit from TakeOver: Portland.
Looks like we’re going to be seeing Flair on NXT TV a lot more often over the next couple of weeks building up to WrestleMania.
For the first time in WWE history, a Royal Rumble winner will use their title opportunity to challenge for an NXT championship at WrestleMania.
Flair will face Ripley for the NXT Women’s title at WrestleMania 36, but it will also be interesting to see if Belair squeezes her way into the match as well after another strong performance.
The Queen commented on making WWE history on social media, tweeting: “Everything I do is history. The NXT title will be defended at #WrestleMania #WEMadeNXT @WWENXT”
The Nightmare also commented on what happened at TakeOver: Portland, giving credit as well to The EST of NXT for her performance on the night.
She tweeted: “1. Thank you @BiancaBelairWWE! Going to war with you is always brutal! 2. @MsCharlotteWWE you just gave me exactly what I wanted. See you at #WrestleMania36 #NXTTakeOverPortland #TheNightmare 👹”
Flair has been NXT Women’s Champion once before, as she was the second superstar to capture the NXT Women’s Championship after defeating Natalya in the finals of a tournament at the first-ever TakeOver event in May 2014.
The Queen held the title for 258 days, helping to usher in WWE’s Women’s Evolution alongside Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch and Bayley in the process.
She lost the title to Banks at TakeOver: Rival in February 2015 in a fatal four-way match which also involved Lynch and Bayley.
Now, Flair will have a chance to win the NXT Women’s Championship once more when she challenges Rhea Ripley for the title at WrestleMania 36.News Now - Sport News
