The Scottish Football Association have announced a new partnership with UEFA and Disney to encourage more girls to play football in the country.

A new initiative called 'Playmakers' is aimed at girls aged 5-8 years who are not currently playing football.

The programme is created to encourage the girls with inspiration from Disney to take their first steps on their football journey.

Through the use of movement and play, the football sessions will make an environment for the girls' imaginations to run away with themselves and mould a new Disney story. Disney's Incredibles 2 will be the theme of the first sessions.

Overall there will be 10 sessions in the programme. The girls will act out specific scenes and portray some of the characters from an array of Disney films.

As a result, this programme will empower the girls to be healthier and stronger, as well as make friends, and build confidence. While fundamentally developing life skills and learning how to play football.

Information on how to get involved with the programme is on UEFA's website.

The first sessions will start in April 2020, with dates, venues, and times of these to be announced in due course.

Scotland Women are currently sitting second in their UEFA Euro 2021 Qualifying group and will be looking to build starts for what looks like a bright future for Shelley Kerr's side.

Their squad already boasts young talent such as Erin Cuthbert, Lizzie Arnot, and Kirsty Hanson to name a few - all of which have gone on to be professional players and represent Women's Super League clubs in England.
