Football fans will talk about this current Liverpool team for many years to come.Jurgen Klopp’s side, who were crowned European champions last season, have won 25 of their 26 Premier League fixtures so far this term. They have 76 points on the board already - leaving them a staggering 25 clear of second-placed Manchester City - and still have another 12 games left to play, meaning they could potentially finish the season with an astonishing 112 points. The Reds were made to work hard for their latest victory by the Premier League’s bottom side, Norwich City, on Saturday evening.Sadio Mane’s brilliant late winner ensured that Liverpool go marching on. Five more wins and they will be champions of England for the first time since 1990.

Liverpool are also on course to become only the second team to go an entire Premier League campaign unbeaten after Arsenal’s ‘Invincibles’ first achieved the feat during the 2003-04 season.

They’ve dropped points in just one league fixture so far and that was against Manchester United at Old Trafford back in October.

If Liverpool do remain unbeaten in the Premier League between now and the end of the season then there’s a chance they will receive a special gold trophy.

This is according to the Daily Mail, who understand that informal discussions have taken place about handing Liverpool a special golden trophy if they avoid defeat between now and May 17.

Arsenal’s ‘Invincibles’ received one at the end of the 2003-04 season. It’s a smaller version than the silver trophy and will have Liverpool’s W-D-L record engraved on the base.

The Premier League will make an announcement at the end of the season.

Here’s Arsene Wenger lifting Arsenal’s version…

And here’s Dennis Bergkamp with the same trophy…

It’s a shame that it’s not as big as the actual Premier League trophy but it’s still pretty cool.

And it’ll certainly make a nice addition to Liverpool’s growing silverware cabinet at Anfield.

Landing their hands on the trophy won’t be easy, though.

Klopp’s side face the likes of Chelsea and, of course, Manchester City over the coming weeks.
