WWE news: WWE are in talks over bringing WrestleMania or SummerSlam to the United Kingdom

WWE Announces Matches With Tyson Fury And Cain Velasquez At Crown Jewel Event

The WWE is reportedly in talks to finally bring WrestleMania - or another major pay-per-view event - to the United Kingdom in the coming years.

The organisation has not had a major event on British shores since that memorable 1992 SummerSlam that was held at the iconic Wembley Stadium.

While there have been murmurings of a possible return to the UK for years now, it is believed that talks have intensified with the 30-year anniversary of the promotion's last British event on the horizon.

Per The Sun, BT Sport's new mega-deal with WWE is believed to be the biggest driving force behind the discussions as the broadcaster continues to push for it to become a mainstream sport.

On top of that, last month's Royal Rumble was won was by Drew McIntyre, a Brit, only further fuelling the calls for a major PPV to land in the UK.

As a result, McIntyre is expected to be part of the main event against the legendary Brock Lesnar at the upcoming WrestleMania 36 in April.

It all points towards a massive jump in interest in the UK and it would make a lot of sense for Vince McMahon to secure a London event once again.

If he is smart about it, a 30-year anniversary event would go down an absolute treat amongst the UK fans and there can be no doubting that tickets would sell out in a heart-beat.

While there are no concrete plans just yet, the fact that talks are ongoing is an exciting prospect.

Just imagining WrestleMania in front of hordes of fans at the famous Wembley is enough to send the pulse racing.

With BT's coverage of the sport only set to get better and better, this is becoming a very real possibility.

We just hope it happens sooner rather than later.
