Chelsea were made to pay for a host of missed chances as Manchester United took the lead at Stamford Bridge. Aaron Wan-Bissaka turned Willian inside out before delivering an impressive cross onto the head of Anthony Martial to make it 1-0. That capped a frustrating first half for the hosts, who had seen N'Golo Kante withdraw through injury 10 minutes in and Willian booked for diving. However, Chelsea thought they'd equalised after 55 minutes through Kurt Zouma before VAR intervened.Cesar Azpilicueta was penalised for appearing to push Brandon Williams off the ball.

Yet replays immediately suggested that Fred had in fact pushed the Chelsea defender and that there was little he could have done to prevent the movement.

Minutes later, Harry Maguire made it 2-0, though that was not without controversy itself - the England centre-back could count himself lucky to still be on the pitch having kicked out at Batshuayi.

Frank Lampard had every right to be feeling hard-done-by.
