Manchester United recorded a 2-0 win against Chelsea in controversial circumstances. The Red Devils benefitted from a couple of VAR calls that resulted in 'VARchester United' trending during the match at Stamford Bridge.Anthony Martial gave the visitors the lead on the stroke of half-time with a perfectly-placed header from Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s cross. The Frenchman’s goal came after Man United centre-back Harry Maguire escaped a red card for kicking Michy Batshuayi in the groin.VAR had no interest in the incident and Maguire went without punishment.

And VAR would cost Chelsea once again later on as they had an equaliser disallowed.

Kurt Zouma thought he had levelled the scores but his goal was chalked off as Cesar Azpilicueta was adjudged to have pushed Brandon Williams.

However, replays showed that Fred might have pushed Azpilicueta into the Man United left-back.

Moments later, Maguire evaded Antonio Rudiger and headed home Bruno Fernandes' corner to make it 2-0.

Talk about adding insult to injury.

VAR wasn't done there though.

In the 77th minute, Chelsea substitute Olivier Giroud had a goal ruled out for offside.

That's three decisions that went United's way in a crucial win.

Sometimes you need luck. And the Red Devils certainly got it in west London.

The fact that 'VARchester United' was trending on Twitter during the match says it all.
