Atletico Madrid are putting all their eggs in a Champions League-shaped basket this season. Diego Simeone's side have had well-documented problems in La Liga, but the European gods haven't exactly been kind to them either by pitting them against holders Liverpool. The Rojiblancos will face a daunting trip to Anfield next month for the second leg. Liverpool fans are known for putting on quite the 'welcome' for their opponents ahead of big Champions League nights. Manchester City can certainly vouch for that after bottles were hurled at their bus the season before last.

However, Atleti supporters showed they know how to put on quite the atmosphere of their own as footage emerged of them waiting for their own team at the Wanda Metropolitano ahead of kick-off.

Liverpool, of course, have fond memories of the ground as it's only a few months since they lifted the trophy there after beating Tottenham 2-0 in last season's final.

Simeone and co. will be looking to tarnish those associations despite having had numerous injury problems in the build-up.

The English top flight may have thus far found no way past Jurgen Klopp's men but there will be niceties laid on for them in Madrid tonight.
