Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder clashed in the press conference ahead of their rematch for the WBC heavyweight championship on Saturday. The two undefeated heavyweight fighters will go toe-to-toe at the MGM Grand, but the Bronze Bomber and the Gypsy King couldn’t wait until the weekend. Both fighters got the fanfare of entrances in the Vegas press conference, but immediately came nose-to-nose on the stage in an intense showdown.A push or two from either side from the get go and the usual quip of “dosser” and “your mum” jokes from Tyson Fury and the mood was definitely set.The Gypsy King reiterated that he has made Wilder famous after the draw in December 2018 and that Wilder’s biggest drawing fight was a mere 300,000 buys with Luis Ortiz in November compared to “a million views for fighting a bum” that Fury could get in Britain.

Whilst Wilder was beating Ortiz, Tyson Fury had traded the boxing gloves for the wrestling tights and went up against Braun Strowman for the WWE and Vince McMahon in Saudi Arabia at their Super ShowDown event.

Wilder, of course, was quick to hit back at Fury. Wilder claimed that he had rehabilitated the Manchester-born fighter’s career and that he gave Fury the opportunity.

“I brought you back and put food on your table.

“And I’m doing it for a second time. Don’t you forget that. I found you when you were strung out on coke, as big as a house and contemplating killing yourself.

“I brought you back to big-time boxing.”

The fun, not-so-serious air to the press conference suddenly took a dark turn which generated gasps and a hushed air around the building. However, Fury was quick to reply.

“He is spouting rubbish saying he gave me an opportunity. I gave him the biggest payday of his life, brought him to Las Vegas and this is how he thanks me. He has a lot of appreciation for someone who put millions in his account.”

Fury punctuated his response with another promise that he would knockout Deontay Wilder.

With the barbs traded and the sell-job complete, the pair will return for the fight on Saturday night with one undefeated streak likely to have a blemish against it.

In the build-up to the fight, however, Fury has stated that this will not be the last time the pair face off in a boxing ring.

A verbal agreement is understood to have been reached for a third and final fight for the WBC heavyweight championship.
