Scottish Women's Premier League side Hearts have completed the signing of promising midfielder Louise McDaniel from Women's Championship club Blackburn Rovers.

McDaniel moves to Scotland, after joining Blackburn in September last year.

The 19-year-old made her first Northern Ireland senior appearance in 2019, during their 2019 World Cup qualifying campaign. Her debut for her country was against Kazakhstan last February.

She made her debut for Linfield in her homeland at the age of 14 in 2015. Prior to her move to Rovers, she scored six goals in one game for Linfield against Derry City in 2018. Upon her move to The Orrium, the midfielder told the club's website the following:

“I feel like Hearts is the perfect fit for me at the moment, hearing how the manager (Kevin Murphy) want the team to play and the ambitions of the club is really exciting. I knew it was something I wanted to be a part of.

“The team are fantastic; I’ve really settled into the squad now. The staff and players made it really easy for me, it’s such a positive team environment.

“This season I want to get as many minutes under my belt as possible and help Hearts Women make a real impact in SWPL 1.”

McDaniel has been given the number 27 shirt at the Edinburgh club and could make her debut in their opening game of the 2020 SWPL season against Rangers on February 23.

Louise becomes the second Northern Ireland player to join an SWPL side in the last week, as Lauren Wade joined defending champions Glasgow City last week.
