Manchester United can probably consider themselves fortunate to come away from Club Brugge with a 1-1 draw in their Europa League last-32 first leg.Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made six changes for the trip to Belgium but was probably regretting that when Emmanuel Dennis latched onto a Simon Mignolet goal-kick to lob over Sergio Romero.Twenty minutes later, Anthony Martial capitalised on a defensive mistake to surge clear and finish. As the game edged towards the final 10 minutes, Club Brugge looked the most likely to win it.That was until January signing Bruno Fernandes was introduced in the 81st-minute.

Suddenly, United looked a different team.

In the first 81 minutes, United had eight shots. In the final nine minutes, they had eight shots - four of which came from Fernandes.

The £47 million signing also had a 100% pass accuracy with five passes in the final third - two of them went into the penalty area.

In fact, he was so good during his cameo appearances that BT Sport pundit and former United player, Robin van Persie, described it as “unbelievable”.

Van Persie said after the match: "He was unbelievable and with top players you can tell straight away they have something to add, he's silky on the ball. He has that pass, he has a nice cross and shot, he's a joy to watch.”

Not bad for nine minutes work.

Solskjaer will surely put Fernandes in his starting line-up for the return leg next week as the Red Devils look to progress into the last-16.

The Portuguese has made a decent start to his United career, showing glimpses of his quality during the 0-0 draw at home to Wolves and their 2-0 win at Chelsea on Monday.
