Mikel Arteta is working wonders at Arsenal.

The Spaniard didn't get off to the best of starts after taking over in December.

Arsenal drew his first game in charge against Bournemouth and his second match ended in defeat at home to Chelsea.

But Arsenal have improved massively in 2020.

The Gunners had gone unbeaten in eight games to start the year prior to their game against Olympiacos on Thursday.

Travelling to Greece for a European tie is always a tough task.

But Arsenal produced a fine display as they overcame their opponents 1-0.

Alexandre Lacazette scored the only goal of the game in the 81st minute as he tapped home after good work from Bukayo Saka.

Arteta's side now know a positive result in the return leg next week will see them progress to the Europa League last-16.

That victory means Arsenal remain unbeaten in 2020 having not tasted defeat in nine games.

In those games Arsenal have won five and drawn four.

They've kept five clean sheets and have not conceded a goal in their last three games.

Incredibly they are just one of two teams in Europe's top five leagues not to have lost in 2020.

Liverpool, Juventus, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain have all tasted defeat.

Bayern Munich may have not lost in a competitive game - but they were beaten 5-2 in a friendly against Nurnburg.

Surprisingly, the only other team not to have lost a game in 2020 is Verona.

The Italian side are currently on a nine-game unbeaten run that has seen them shoot up to fifth in Serie A.

Their last defeat came on December 7 and since then they have had positive results against AC Milan, Juventus and Lazio.

It remains to be seen who's unbeaten run will last the longest but spirits are certainly high in north London.

Arteta has restored a feel-good factor back at the club and there will be optimism that he can guide them back to the Champions League.

He may even deliver them silverware in the shape of the Europa League title or the FA Cup.
