Martin Braithwaite fails trying to show off his skills during Barcelona presentation

Martin Braithwaite arrives at Barcelona with a lot to prove.

The Blaugrana have signed the striker in an emergency deal due to Luis Suarez's injury, having failed to address the gap in January.

Braithwaite has come in from Leganes and, let's face it, he was only there because he had failed to impress at Middlesbrough.

That CV will rarely earn a player the chance to play alongside Lionel Messi, but stranger things have happened in football.

Will he be the answer to Quique Sétien's problems? It seems unlikely, but you never know.

Braithwaite may be something of a stop-gap signing, but he was still given the full trimmings at his presentation.

Sporting director Eric Abidal unveiled him to the media and he was then given the chance to show off his 'skills'.

We all know how this ends.

Don't they teach rainbow flicks at Middlesbrough?

At least he can do kick-ups.

Unfortunately, with nothing against the man himself, some rival fans would dearly love Braithwaite to struggle at Camp Nou, simply because there is such a question mark over why Barcelona were allowed to sign him in the first place.

Abidal had plenty of time in January to find a solution and failed to do so. A club with Barcelona's resources should not find themselves in need of such a deal, but they were allowed special dispensation.

La Liga have further infuriated Leganes by refusing to let them sign their own emergency replacement.

Where Braithwaite will really be judged is on the pitch. It's a dream move and one the 28-year-old can never have envisaged making.

Sétien badly needs him to step up, with Barca in second place a point behind Zinedine Zidane's Real Madrid.
