The six-time champion is chasing down a monumental seventh Drivers’ Championship in hope to cement his status as one of the best drivers in the history of the sport.
It will also equal a long-standing record set by legend racer. Michael Schumacher.
“I would say that it’s easily the same, if not maybe more,” said Hamilton.
“But I’m able to channel that drive that I have to be much more methodical.”
The 35-year-old also admitted that he was not happy with his style of racing, acknowledging that it was less organised with a lack of thought compared to now.

“Before it was all-out crazy, no real structure, no real balance. Through experience, trial and error, I know where I need to apply my energy, where to save and conserve it.”
The Brit had a dominant performance last season, capturing the title for the sixth time and ending with 11 wins which matched his previous best in 2014 and 2018.
Hamilton also matched his all-time record podium finishes last term with 17 and achieved 5 pole positions.
The Mercedes driver is hoping for a tighter competition against rivals Ferrari and Red Bull this season.
“You saw it at the end of last year, that the gap was closing between Ferrari and Red Bull, and I anticipate that will be the same this year and we have a closer battle.
“I’m down for that. From my point of view, it makes it more rewarding when it goes the way I want it to go.”
Racing in the new Mercedes Silver Arrow, the driver has admitted that competing against his fellow racers stems his love for the sport.
“I race because I love racing other cars. I don’t like driving around on my own on a track, that’s for sure.”
