Cristiano Ronaldo to play his 1000th senior match

AC Milan v Juventus - Coppa Italia: Semi Final

Cristiano Ronaldo will play his 1000th senior appearance when his Juventus side travel to SPAL in Serie A later this afternoon.

There’s no doubting that the Portuguese is one of the greatest to have ever played the game. Possibly even the greatest.

In his 835 games in club football for Sporting, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus, Ronaldo has scored 625 goals.

Meanwhile, on the International stage, he’s bagged 99 in 164 for Portugal.

In the process, he’s won an incredible 29 trophies for club and country.

He began his career in his native country with Sporting, where he made 31 appearances from 2002 to 2003.

But after playing a pre-season friendly against Man Utd and impressing so much, Sir Alex Ferguson decided to make him the most expensive teenager in English football history by signing him for £12.24 million at the age of 18.

Years later, that fee looked like pennies as Ronaldo took the Premier League by storm.

In his six seasons at Old Trafford, Ronaldo managed 118 goals and helped the club win three league titles and his first Champions League.

A world-record move to Real Madrid followed in 2009 as he signed for the Spanish giants for £80 million.

The goals and trophies continued with him scoring a quite ridiculous 450 in 438 matches. Oh, and another two league titles and four Champions Leagues.

Nine incredible seasons at the Bernabeu came to an end when he joined Juventus in the summer of 2018 for £112 million.

And despite his advancing years, Ronaldo has managed 52 goals in 72 matches for the Old Lady, picking up yet another league title.

We could sit here and tell you in 1000 words about how incredible Ronaldo is. But his achievements speak for themselves.

Therefore, check out the full list of trophies that he’s won:

Yeah, not bad.

At the age of 35, Ronaldo isn’t showing any signs of slowing down.

He’s scored 20 goals in 20 Serie A matches for Juventus this season and he looks to claim yet another league title.

We don’t know what we’ve done to deserve it but it looks like Ronaldo will still be gracing us with his brilliance for years to come.
