When Tyson Fury was born three months premature, he weighed just one pound (450 g).Now, he’s the heavyweight champion of the world. After battling through the first few months of his life, Fury was destined to become a professional boxer. After all, his father named him after the legendary Mike Tyson. No pressure then, kid.

Thirty-one years on and Fury is now widely regarded as the best heavyweight in the world having taken the WBC belt from Deontay Wilder with a dominant performance.

And who was in the crowd watching on? Mike Tyson, of course.

Now, you’d be forgiven for thinking that Tyson would be cheering on fellow American Wilder in Las Vegas.

But that didn’t appear to be the case.

That’s because cameras caught his reaction immediately after Fury beat Wilder by TKO in the seventh round.

Tyson was seen jumping up and down with his hands outstretched.

He looked delighted.

He knew that he had just witnessed an absolute masterclass from his namesake.

It takes a legendary boxer to know one.

When Fury beat Wladimir Klitschko back in 2015 to first become world champion, Tyson was buzzing that the new champ was named after him.

“I’m just happy he was the champion,” Tyson said. “You can say what you want about Tyson Fury, make fun of him, but there’s one guy in the US named Michael Gerard Tyson who’s so proud he has my name.

“We’re all laughing at him, laughing about him, but I’m on an ego trip. I’m sky high.

“The heavyweight champion of the world got my name. He is the best heavyweight champion of the world since myself.

“He is the man, I don’t care what anybody says.”

Tyson clearly feels the same five years on.
