Shinsuke Nakamura required nine staples in his head after picking up an injury during his match on last Friday’s SmackDown.

On Friday Night SmackDown, Shinsuke Nakamura competed alongside Cesaro in a Symphony of Destruction match against Braun Strowman and Elias.

Nakamura and Cesaro lost the match after The King of Strong Style was hit with a running powerslam by Strowman on top of a piano for the pinfall victory.

During the running powerslam, Nakamura's head hit the piano and there was a noticeable dent. Turns out it was a serious head injury that required staples.

WWE revealed on their Instagram that Nakamura required nine staples in the back of his head after his match on SmackDown.

The King of Strong Style gave an update on his health status on his own Instagram, where he said he’s tough but the piano was tougher than him on the night.

He said: “Don’t worry. I’m a tough. But, the piano was toughest. @adamscherr99 and I couldn’t beat it.”

As of writing, it’s unclear as to when Nakamura will be back in the ring competing for WWE. Fingers crossed he isn’t out of action for too long.

However, since it’s a head injury, WWE will likely take extra precautions before allowing The King of Strong Style to return to the squared circle.

Nakamura isn’t currently booked for WWE’s Super ShowDown show in Saudi Arabia next Thursday, and given his head injury, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he misses the show and is asked to stay in the USA.

Reports have stated that Nakamura has been booked in an Elimination Chamber match at the Elimination Chamber show to decide who will face the Universal Champion at WrestleMania.

However, this match is yet to be confirmed by WWE.

Following this week’s match on SmackDown, Nakamura has now suffered four losses in a row to Strowman in TV matches, so it looks like his feud with The Monster Among Men for the Intercontinental title could be coming to an end.

Fingers crossed The King of Strong Style is able to recover from his head injury quickly and return to the squared circle soon.
