Neymar has earned a reputation of a party animal and is a regular at the Rio Carnival. The Brazilian forward seems to cause controversy every year by attending the carnival.Whether it be injury or suspension, he seems to be unavailable to play football at this point nearly every year and he actually hasn't missed the event since 2014.But, after it started on Friday, Neymar took to Instagram to announce that he would not be in attendance for the first time in six years."With immense happiness, I announce that I am out of the 2020 Carnaval," Neymar said on Instagram, per Goal.

"That is it. This time there will be no controversy. Thanks. Happy Carnaval!"

With Neymar committing to PSG, he was in the starting lineup for their game against Bordeaux on Sunday evening.

Neymar's side won 4-3, with Edinson Cavani, Marquinhos (2) and Kylian Mbappe getting on the scoresheet.

But it turned out to be a day to forget for Neymar.

The Brazilian was booked at the end of the first half and then he received his marching orders in the final minutes.

Neymar flew into a challenge, earning him a second yellow card and an early bath.

That red card, which is his first since 2017, does seem really unnecessary.

PSG were winning going into the final moments and looked as if they would hold on to all three points. Neymar didn't have to go into the challenge.

It's possible that he was frustrated, with Bordeaux players fouling him numerous times during the game.

But it still got football fans thinking: why would Neymar get sent off?

And many are joking that it's because of the Rio Carnival.

Neymar has announced he wouldn't be attending this year, but it is still running until Wednesday.

With Neymar now unavailable for PSG's game next weekend, football fans have joked he deliberately got sent off so he could go back to Rio.

Although Neymar isn't the most professional of players, it seems unlikely that he would deliberately get sent off to attend the carnival.

But, after attending the carnival every year since 2014, getting sent off on Sunday may not be a coincidence.
