£35 million dollar man Andy Carroll is to make his first start for the Kop against Sunderland on the weekend, according to the Liverpool Daily Post.

The 22 year old had to wait to debut for Liverpool for over a month because of a thigh injury.

Carroll came off the bench for Liverpool for the first time against Manchester United two weeks ago. The striker looked commanding and his first touch almost resulted in a goal.

Carroll also made his European debut last week in the 1-0 loss to Braga, with manager Kenny Dalglish praising his efforts.

“We looked a lot more threatening when Andy came on. He is a good option for us.” Dalglish said of Carroll’s performance.
