Tyson Fury is on top of the world right now.

The Gypsy King's staggering performance to batter Deontay Wilder into a seventh-round TKO will be remembered for years to come as he produced a boxing masterclass of note.

Wilder never stood a chance as Fury outboxed him at every turn, showing remarkable power to floor the American several times before the fight was halted.

With the Bronze Bomber bleeding from both his lip and, more concerningly, his ear, Wilder's team simply had no choice but to throw in the towel to avoid further Fury punishment.

Instantly, the internet was awash with fans and professionals alike calling for Fury to take on the mighty Anthony Joshua in what would surely be the biggest fight of a generation.

However, there is a trilogy clause within Wilder's contract with Fury which can be exercised anytime within the next 30 days.

That means that, should he want it, Wilder can have one more go at Fury, forcing fans to wait for the AJ bout they so desperately want.

Should Wilder decline the rematch however, it doesn't necessarily mean that the path to Joshua will be clear for Fury, who outlined that he will have to face his mandatory challenger before anything else.

Chatting to Dillian Whyte's brother, Dean, Fury confirmed that should Wilder backout of the rematch clause, Fury will have no choice but to face Whyte.

"Listen, if Wilder don’t take his rematch I’ll have to fight my mandatory, that’s it. Listen, me and Dill go back, we go back a long time," he said to Whyte.

Whyte has made no secret of his desire to take on one of the big boys and was quick to remind everyone of his position in the aftermath of Fury's Wilder domination.

"Listen, he should be fighting me next, regardless of whatever he thinks, whatever AJ thinks," Whyte told Sky Sports.

"I deserve it. I’ve worked hard for my title shot and I keep fighting and I keep risking my position. I’ve been No 1 contender for ages now."

There is no denying that Whyte v Fury would be a special fight, but you can be sure that fans would be rather disappointed if they are made to wait even longer for Fury v Joshua.
