Football fans joke Liverpool only beat West Ham by match-fixing

How do you explain Liverpool's extraordinary run this season?

Monday night's 3-2 victory over West Ham saw the Reds equal Manchester City's record of 18 consecutive Premier League wins, despite the champions-elect being far from at their best.

West Ham actually took a shock 2-1 lead, Issa Diop and Pablo Fornals turning the game on its head after Gini Wijnaldum's opener.

That famous never-say-die spirit was on show once again, however, as Mo Salah and Sadio Mane hit back to ensure another huge step towards the title.

It can't be ignored that Liverpool were handed a huge slice of luck along the way, though.

Salah's goal went right through Lukasz Fabianski's legs and the West Ham stopper could also have done better in the build-up to Mane's winner.

Jurgen Klopp's men just simply *will not* lose. And rival fans are sick of it.

So much so, that they're now resorting to cries of 'match-fixing' to explain their latest triumph.

To his credit, Fabianski's error is only really being picked up on because he's made relatively few this season and has typically been a dependable pair of hands between the sticks.

That hasn't stopped fans joking about the 'fix' on social media:

Maybe Liverpool really are just that good.

Only 12 more points are required and whether it comes through the opposition crumbling, rather than persistent brilliance, there's no stopping them.

West Ham badly needed the points too as the defeat leaves them in the relegation zone.

David Moyes' side can take some solace at least in the knowledge that they pushed Liverpool far closer than most have managed this season.
