Italy and Scotland's Women's Six Nations clash is just one of several sporting events that has been called off due to fears of Coronavirus spreading.

The Italian government have also chosen to postpone three men's Serie A football matches as a result of more people testing positive in the Veneto and Lombardy regions.

The cup tie was set to take place on Sunday at 5:10 pm GMT, with Scotland travelling to the Stadio Giovanni Mari. Scottish Rugby now intends to get all of its players and staff back to Scotland as soon as possible.

In a press conference on Saturday, Giuseppe Conte, the Italian Prime Minister, issued "all sporting events" to be called off in the area. Scottish Rugby outlined in a statement, that the government had made the move to attempt to take control of the virus in the south-east of the region.

"The match was scheduled to go ahead in the north-west of the area, so while the risk is minimal, precautionary measures have been taken," it said.

"Scottish Rugby is fully supportive of any decision that has been made in the interest of the health and safety of players, staff and supporters."

As of yet, the match is still to be rescheduled, with both rugby associations now discussing a date for the tie to be played.

Italy sits fourth in the standings with one win and one loss from their first two games, while Scotland is in fifth - having lost both of their games so far.
