Steph Houghton is set to make Women's Super League history, the next time Manchester City win a league fixture.

Houghton, if City is victorious against Liverpool on March 22 - will become the first player to win 100 WSL games.

The 31-year-old has played in the competition, firstly, for Arsenal - where she made 74 appearances between 2010-2013. She joined Manchester City from the Gunners on January 1, 2014, and has since made 81 appearances for the Sky Blues.

The centre-back said the following on the achievement: "It'll be an unbelievable milestone I think especially with the games that we've got coming up.

"I think hearing those stats, I know that I play a lot of football and I know that I've made a lot of appearances but to know I've won more games than anybody else for both Man City and Arsenal, that's a pretty big achievement.

"And a pretty good ratio at that! So I'll be really chuffed to be honest, because if people know who I am and I'm in and around the place, whether it's in this environment or England all I want to do is win so yes, it'll be a pretty special feeling."

City currently sit top of the WSL table with 40 points from 16 games, they are closely followed by Chelsea in second - who are yet to lose a league game and are just one point behind - they also have a game in hand.

Houghton's former team Arsenal sit third, four points behind the league leaders and also with a game in hand.
