After tonnes of speculation, it looks as though Conor McGregor may just be fighting this summer after all.
During his "Ariel Helwani's MMA Show" yesterday, ESPN's Ariel Helwani reported, as per Cageside Press, that he has heard that McGregor vs Justin Gaethje is being discussed as a potential fight for this summer.
He later went on to mention that the fight is currently the favourite over other options, including the Nate Diaz trilogy fight.
The Irishman made his hotly-anticipated return to MMA competition last month at UFC 246, obliterating Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone in their welterweight main event fight in just 40 seconds.
Post-fight, McGregor confirmed that he is looking to remain active throughout 2020, fighting possibly three or four times.

UFC president Dana White seemed convinced that McGregor's next fight should be against the winner of the upcoming Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson clash in April. However, McGregor seems to have shrugged off this suggestion.
A battle with Gaethje would seemingly make sense for McGregor, as the American has been calling him out for quite some time.
Gaethje also argues that it should've been him who took on the Irishman for his return fight instead of Cerrone.
As for Gaethje's wishes, it looks quite likely that they'll come true this summer.
The aforementioned Nate Diaz trilogy fight is looking less and less certain after Diaz suffered a doctor stoppage loss to Jorge Masvidal last November.
This doesn't mean the fight will never happen, though, as McGregor and Diaz certainly have a score to settle between them. With both men sitting on a single win against the other, it would certainly make sense to finish the trilogy off with an undisputed winner.
As for Gaethje, it will be very interesting to see whether the UFC decides to allow him to fight McGregor in the summer, but it wouldn't be surprising to see it happen.News Now - Sport News
