Roberto Firmino almost kicked Georginio Wijnaldum in the head after his goal vs West Ham

Liverpool FC v West Ham United - Premier League

For the 26th time this season, Liverpool earned all three points on Monday night.

But they were made to work hard for it by relegation-threatened West Ham.

In truth, the match appeared over after just nine minutes.

Georginio Wijnaldum headed in from Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross to give the league leaders an early lead.

It was the Dutchman’s fourth goal of the season and he wheeled away to celebrate with the provider, Alexander-Arnold.

But on his way towards the right-back, he had to duck to avoid a flying karate kick by teammate Roberto Firmino.

The Brazilian is often seen celebrating goals with a karate kick but he’s going to take someone’s head off one day! It was almost Wijnaldum on Monday night but luckily the Dutchman was agile enough to avoid it.

But if you thought Wijnaldum’s opener would lead to a convincing victory for Liverpool, then you were very much mistaken.

West Ham hit back with a header of their own from Issa Diop just three minutes later.

Then, 10 minutes into the second half, they incredibly took the lead through Pablo Fornals.

Were Liverpool about to lose their unbeaten record?

No, of course not.

Lukasz Fabianski’s howler gifted Mohamed Salah an equaliser before Sadio Mane sealed Liverpool’s 18th consecutive victory with nine minutes remaining.

Liverpool now need just four more wins to guarantee their first Premier League title.

Meanwhile, they’re still in the FA Cup and Champions League - although they need to overturn a 1-0 deficit against Atletico Madrid to progress.

Is an incredible treble - or quintuple if you count the Super Cup and Club World Cup - on the cards?

Jurgen Klopp’s side have every chance - as long as Firmino doesn’t take any of his teammate’s heads’ off as the season reaches its climax.
