On Saturday night, boxing witnessed one of its greatest personal comebacks as Tyson Fury came back from the brink of depression and drug addiction to comprehensively defeat WBC champion Deontay Wilder.

Outside of the fight itself, two extravagant ring-walks from men who both appeared assured of victory was certainly one of the more eye-catching features.

While Fury opted for a crown and throne, Wilder went the extra mile with a full body costume which he claims cost somewhere in the region of $40,000.

Wilder will be regretting comments he made prior to the fight, boasting about his ring-walk costume that he now claims cost him the fight.

Wilder told TMZ: "My goodness it’s going to be amazing man, come Saturday night.

"One of the promises I made to myself, talking to my adviser Al, when I got to a certain point in my career I said ‘man I want to give the boxing fans and the world something to remember me by'.

"Not just the knockouts but by expressing myself before entering the ring, I want people to say they get their money worth from the start to the finish.

Man, to spin 40 racks on this costume it better be the best ever.

"To spend so much money on my costumes, up to 40 grand, I look at it like this, you know I’m a living legend.

"I’ve got a long way to go, I’ve got a lot to prove to the world. But when I retire or die people always give you your roses, but I’m alive and I want to smell those things now."

Wilder was less enthusiastic about his choice of costume after the fight, as he told Yahoo: "He didn’t hurt me at all, but the simple fact is ... that my uniform was way too heavy for me.

“I didn’t have no legs from the beginning of the fight. In the third round, my legs were just shot all the way through.

"I tried my best to do so. I knew I didn’t have the legs because of my uniform."
