Why do left-footed players look better playing football? There’s just something about them. They appear technically superior to their right-footed counterparts. And then there’s their shot power. Why is it that some of the most powerful shooters in football history are left-footed?

Think Adriano. Think Roberto Carlos. Think Arjen Robben.

The Premier League has seen some incredible lefties down the years.

But who has the best left-foot in the league’s history?

We’re not talking about the best player. We’re talking about the sweetest left peg.

Well, that was a question Soccer AM posed on Wednesday afternoon and it had plenty of football fans having their say.

So, who came out on top?

Well, Laurent Robert started trending in the UK as a result so we think the former Newcastle winger came out on top.

We’re pretty sure Olivier Bernard would agree with that.

But who else got a mention?

John Arne Riise, Morten Gamst Pedersen, Ryan Giggs, Gareth Bale and Thomas Hitzlsperger all got worthy mentions.

There was also a cheeky mention for John Hartson.

While he was right-footed, he once booted former teammate Eyal Berkovic with his left-foot during a training ground fight.

Ouch.

There were also mentions of former Leeds left-back Ian Harte, Chris Brunt and Robin van Persie.

So, who really had the best left-foot in Premier League history?
