Deontay Wilder's excuses for losing to Tyson Fury have been quite remarkable.

The Bronze Bomber was quick to blame his camp and also criticised his corner's decision to throw in the towel, despite the fact he was being badly beaten up by the Gypsy King.

But the worst excuse of all centres around Wilder's ring-walk outfit. The Bronze Bomber stated that the weight of it - around 45lbs - severely impacted his legs in the ring.

It's an excuse absolutely no one has bought and Wilder looks even more ridiculous now after his comments on a Joe Rogan podcast have resurfaced.

On the show, Wilder confirmed that he often trains with a 45lb vest on, saying: "I wear a 45lb vest during all my exercises and everything that I do, to have that extra weight on me."

Wow, so in training it's fine, but donning some hefty gear for a few minutes before a fight is detrimental to your physical condition. Have a day off, Deontay.

After the fight at the MGM Grand Arena, Wilder stated: "He didn't hurt me at all, but the simple fact is... that my uniform was way too heavy for me," the American explained.

"I didn't have no legs from the beginning of the fight. In the third round, my legs were just shot all the way through.

"It could easily be told that I didn't have legs or anything. A lot of people were telling me, 'It looked like something was wrong with you.' Something was, but when you're in the ring, you have to bluff a lot of things.

"I tried my best to do so. I knew I didn't have the legs because of my uniform.

"I was only able to put it on [for the first time] the night before but I didn't think it was going to be that heavy. It weighed 40, 40-some pounds with the helmet and all the batteries.

"I wanted my tribute to be great for Black History Month. I wanted it to be good and I guess I put that before anything."

Sometimes, it's better to lose with dignity...
